Praise the Lord for His speaking in this conference! What mercy and grace that we can hear this word today, at this age, in the church!
Are we at the end of the age? If we are, the kingdom will soon begin. If a dispensational move is near, then God needs an instrument. General work is no longer adequate. The children of God lack a vision; they do not see the seriousness and intensity of the situation. Now is a matter of dispensation … What are we doing to bring in the next age? This is a special time, so there is the need of special Christians to do a special work. [Watchman Nee, The Glorious Church]
Yes, we are special Christians not just because we are do things differently from other Christians, but because of this governing vision. God desperately needs a group of people on the earth who can see God’s need and care for His need more than they care for their own. The fact that we are hearing this word today means that we should be that group of people! There is no time for us to be hesitant, or to consider other trivial matters. God needs us!
However, it is always one thing to respond to this word in the conference with hundreds of saints together with us, and another thing to actually enter into the reality of this word in our daily living, in our respective localities. Because that is when the real training begins. Will we be an overcomer? Will we make this choice day by day when the surroundings are not encouraging?
This is why we have these four phrases: realize, give up, praise and believe! Too often have we dwelt in our self effort, our trying, our feelings, even our pride. Day by day, we need to remind ourselves, that we are over and done with! Gal. 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ,” – our position today is on the cross. Oh, may we remain on the cross and never leave! This is the beginning of an overcoming life.
And when we give up trying to be better, in all things big and small, that is when we are able to praise God. The second half of the verse is “for it is no longer I… but Christ” Praise the Lord, “but Christ!” Without Christ we will remain dead and hopeless. But He is the overcoming One in us! He can’t help but overcome, and not even death can hold Him.
What victory! When we praise Him, we will be joined to this One in us, joined to Him in His victory. All that He is and has will become ours, and we overcome not because of ourselves, but because we are joined to this One!
Lastly, we need to believe that we are not able, but God is able. What is the basis, the foundation of our belief? It is not our feelings, our situation, but the word of God.
Rev. 12:11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony…” Thank You Lord that we have the word of the testimony! Our feelings, our hearts are always fluctuating, but the word is firm and unchanging. So saints, whenever we are discouraged, let us be reminded to turn to this word! “And they overcame”! May the Lord bless His speaking abundantly.
