Giving the Lord Permission to Make our Heart His Home #2016SpringUniConf

1 John 1:7b ...and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.I am so thankful to the Lord for His rich speaking during the 2016 Spring University conference in Wales. I was particularly touched by a brother’s sharing on dealing with the inward parts for the exercise of the spirit. The inward parts – which are our mind, emotion, will, and conscience – are related to the exercise of our human spirit.

However, among theses parts, dealing with our conscience is the most important part, because our conscience is the leading part of our spirit to have a good exercise of a proper spirit. According to Ephesians 2:1 and 4:19, if our conscience is wrong, our spirit will not be exercised but become deadened and numb.

So how should we deal with our conscience? In 1 John 1:7b it says “and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin”. We need apply the blood to deal with our conscience! Actually this blood is the basis and foundation of our Christian life, without this blood we cannot be a Christian. Oh what a precious blood we have!

Furthermore, we need to confess our sins to the Lord. 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness”. There should not be nothing between us and the Lord. We must understand the problem is on our side not on God’s side. Think about a window, light is coming through a window but if the window is full of dust and dirt it will limit the amount of the light coming in through the window.

Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love.Additionally, I really enjoyed and got a new appreciation of Ephesians 3:17 which says “That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love”. Home is where one lives. At home we have absolute right to enter in and go out, touch or do whatever we want to do, and express our self. The verse shows us that Christ wants to make His home in our hearts… For this to happen we must change how we live.

Imagine how sad it would be if we invite Him to our house and He only stays in a small room. How sad it will be if we only enter that small room only whenever we feel like? This is like exercising our spirit only during a conference time, at the home meeting or at the Lord’s table meeting. Oh Lord Jesus, make Your home in our heart! This means that we need to give Him our permission to make our heart His home then He will be able to move around freely.

For this to happen, as I mentioned earlier, we need to change our living. Perhaps the Lord doesn’t like “a picture in our home” or something in our real life, and He says we need to remove it. But sometimes even though we gave Him the permission we just cannot let it go. WE NEED TO CHANGE HOW WE LIVE. We all are learning to say Amen to the Lord and live according to the spirit. This is also one of the ways to deal with our conscience.

Lord Jesus! Remind us everyday to exercise our spirit!
