Having a Vision and Giving Ourselves Completely and Utterly to the Lord for His Return #EYPC2015

Having a Vision and Giving Ourselves Completely and Utterly to the Lord for His ReturnI’m a young person from America who was had the privilege of going to the Poland conference this year! I was the only young person from my locality (besides my brother) who got to go. On a human level the Poland Conference allowed me to meet so many young people from around the world among whom I made lifelong companions. Throughout Junior High I was the only church kid at my school, besides my older brother, so I felt a bit lonely. Going to the Poland Conference has shown me that going into high school I’m not alone! There are young people all around the world struggling towards the same goal, pursuing after the Lord! This was a real encouragement.

On both a human and spiritual level, I enjoyed a very general point from this conference. This is that we need to have a vision and therefore give ourselves completely and utterly to the Lord in order to bring Him back. We were given the example of the story of Joseph in which Joseph had a dream, passed through numerous hardships including confinement and finally reached the reigning life. Even on the throne, Joseph still gave all his choices to the Lord! Banner #4, which we sang during the conference was:

The strongest person is not the one who is able to do something but the one who is able not to do what he has the power to do; this self-denial is the unique way to usher in God’s kingdom and to realize the kingdom life.

Isn’t that amazing?! It seemed impossible to me at first, but throughout the week I learned that nothing, nothing is impossible for the Lord to accomplish!

Finally, I didn’t know what it meant to give yourself to the Lord. I’d spoken those exact words many times in the past, but what I didn’t know is that to give yourself to the Lord is to give Him your hands, feet, eyes, your time, literally EVERYTHING.

Five key points the brother listed gave us clear and practical “guidelines” on how to prepare for the Lord’s return.

  1. First, he said that “there are many signs that show us that the Lord is coming soon. He is for sure coming during our lifetime.” FOR SURE!
  2. Our lives are for God!
  3. We must learn to forgive.
  4. We must have a mind to suffer and to be persecuted by the world because of our stand for the Lord.
  5. Such ones will be irresistible for the Lord to return to. This last point was particularly touching. I mean, IRRESISTIBLE! I don’t know about you, but I would love to be irresistible to the Lord!

Probably the biggest matter the brother spoke of was marriage and how we should preserve ourselves for the right one. To do this we might have to go against the tide at our school and more personally subdue our lust. 2 Timothy 2:22 says,

But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Going into high school, this message definitely touched me to give my marriage to the Lord. It also opened my eyes to how much the world is attacking the young people through social media, TV, music, etc… Up until this point I haven’t given my ears to the Lord. The conference definitely encouraged me to choose my music more wisely and to guard my ears against songs with harmful messages.

To start off and end the conference, the brother spoke on how we should see the Lord. The path towards the reigning life might be tough but He is not a Lord of rules and regulations. He just wants to kiss us and cause us to surrender up other idolatrous things that might fill our hearts. Stanza two of one of my favorite songs that we sang was:

As we trust in the Lord helplessly,
Depend on Him as our love and strength,
And listen to His speaking,
Our hope is to be raptured
Through the redemption of our body.

Amen, and our prayer is, COME LORD JESUS!
