At the 2015 National College Training I enjoyed that the Spirit of life is our everything regarding our Christian life. This aspect of the Spirit is essential, hence, also referred to as the essential Spirit. In John 20:22, He is likened to breath. The fact that the Spirit of life is likened to breath shows that we must unceasingly depend on the Spirit of life. On the day of Christ’s resurrection, He became breath because in this way He is able to enter into us and become the life in us.
Just as He became the breath to enter into us as life, He became the rivers of living water that flow out of our inner most being (John 7:38-39). The water of life quenches our unending longing to make our life meaningful, which in our naturalness, we seek to satisfy through an esteemed position in a career, or helping the poor, establishing foundations, etc.
However, the only solution to our longing is the Spirit of life, who lives in us. By calling on His name, we receive both the enjoyment of the Spirit of life as our life (breath), and as our fullness (drink). We live a life that is for Him. Therefore, our spirit and soul can only be satisfied by His riches.
Our Christian life depends absolutely on the Spirit of life. Therefore, our day must begin by contacting the Lord; each hour of the day must be redeemed by contacting the Lord; and contacting the Lord must be the last thing we do before going to sleep. For us to live in the divine life satisfies the Lord. In fact, the real worship to God is not only living in the divine life, but enjoying Him as His riches in the divine life.
