Seeing a Vision of the Self and Taking Up our Cross to Follow the Lord (2014 Uni Training)

The Vision of the Self (2014 Uni Training)Praise the Lord for The Heavenly Vision! Oh, how we need to see these visions. It was my first Uni Training and I really feel like the Lord has trained me up during this amazing week.

I was really touched and impressed by the vision of the self. We need to see and know what the self is, so that the self may be exposed and denied and in order for us to deal with it.

In Matthew 16:21 tells us that Jesus told to his disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from many others and be killed and on the third day be raised. In the following verse (22), when Peter heard this he took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Him and said “God be merciful to You, Lord! This shall by no means happen to You!” In the next verse Jesus said to Peter “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.

We have to realize that the self is the embodiment of Satan. In the verse the Lord Jesus was speaking to Peter, yet He called Peter Satan because Satan was embodied in Peter’s soul by occupying his mind. This impressed me very much because here Peter was not doing something evil to the Lord, instead he was showing his love for the Lord and thinking in a positive way. But because Peter was independent of the Lord, his self was expressed through that.

This shows us that no matter what we do, even it something good for the Lord, or some good thoughts or positive thinking, we can express the self. We can be a stumbling block to the Lord, hindering the Lord’s moving forward. O Lord Jesus! I never saw this matter before. It really shocked me when I heard this message. I was very impressed that we can be the stumbling blocks to the Lord when we are in the self and express the self.

Matthew 16:24 says “Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me”. Here we see that the Jesus didn’t just say “follow Me” but He said “let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me”. This is the only way we can deny ourselves – by taking up the cross.

We have to realize that Jesus said to Peter “get behind Me” which means that we have to go behind the Lord, but it’s not over yet. If we just go behind the Lord and follow Him, Satan is still there with us. This means that we follow the Lord with Satan within us. But Jesus said, Take up the cross and follow Me! This is the only way we can shake off Satan from us and deny ourselves.

Thank you Lord for showing us the vision of the self. Lord, we don’t want to be stumbling blocks which hinder Your move. We don’t want to follow You in our self or with Satan! Help us to take up the cross everyday!
