Seeing the Heavenly Vision of Christ, the Self, and the World (2014 Uni Training)

Where there is no vision, the people cast of restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18

In the university training we heard messages on The Heavenly Vision, consisting of messages on the visions of Christ, the Church, the Self, the World and Consecration. We must realize that it is one thing to understand the essence and nature of these things, but to see a vision is another thing altogether. A vision denotes an extraordinary scene, a special kind of inward seeing that we receive from God and which governs us day-by-day with a powerful and lasting effect. If we truly see the vision of these things our person’s concept, attitude and thought would be thoroughly changed.

But He turned and said to Peter, Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men. Matt. 16:23

Our self is an enemy of the Body of Christ. If we would see from the scene in Genesis 3 that our very self is the essence and embodiment of Satan we would surely have a change in our function and attitude in and towards the Body. The self needs to be denied in order for us to fully live in the Body life so that the Lord may gain the full expression of His Body.

We must see that the one new man only consists of one person – Christ. There is no room for our personal tastes, opinions and concepts. The only way we can live in such a way is through the exercise of our human spirit, taking Him as our person, and denying our natural man. This is because our spirit is the one place where Satan has no access. May we exercise to walk and live by our mingled spirit in our daily living and church life each day so we may gain the Lord’s full expression in our respective localities for the accomplishment of His eternal economy!

Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever determines to be a friend of the world is constituted an enemy of God. James 4:4

We must also see a vision of the world as a Satan’s usurping system. Satan is “the ruler of this world”, something seen very clearly in the gospel of John (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11), and he has manipulated many “earthly things” that are necessary for our existence into “worldly things” in order to usurp man and take him away from God’s presence. His tactic is to slowly take away our time so that we would no longer have any time for God.

This effect of Satan’s system can be likened to placing a frog in boiling water. When a frog is placed in boiling water it immediately jumps out as it can recognise the threat of the heat; however, if the frog is placed in cold water and then this water is slowly heated, the frog is unconsciously boiled alive. This is exactly the effect Satan has on us using the world. Satan’s desire is to destroy us. He knows that if he were to confront us immediately to destroy us we would immediately call out to the Lord and flee. Because he knows this, he uses the world to slowly take us from God as we fill ourselves with things in his satanic system.

This destroying effect can be clearly seen through the addiction to things such as alcohol, video games, and drugs and many other things, and many people being filled up to such an extent that they are eventually destroyed. However, we can be smarter than frogs! We need to flee to our spirit and pursue with the saints in the Body to overcome these things, to spend our time to be in the things of God for the purpose to which we were ordained.

But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Tim 2:22
