We All Can Be Perfected to Build Up the Church (2013 Winter School)

We All Can Be Perfected to Build Up the Church (2013 Winter School) Ephesians 4:11-12 “And He Himself gave some as apostles and some as prophets and some as evangelists and some as shepherds and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints unto the work of the ministry, unto the building up of the Body of Christ”

I was particularly impressed by one the messages entitled “The Indirect Building Up of the Body of Christ by the Gifts to the Body and the Direct Building Up of the Body of Christ by the Perfected Saints“. In the earlier messages we were told that Christ will and is building His church (Matt. 16:18) but it was very abstract by just looking at Matthew 16:18 without even knowing how to build the church.

In this message my eyes were opened to see that there are two kinds of building up: one is by the gifted persons and the other is by the perfected saints. Hallelujah, we may not be one of the gifted persons but we can all be the ‘perfected saints’! Hallelujah we can all be part of the building up of the church today!

As young people, it is often ‘common’ for us to think that there is no need for us to function – to pray, to call a hymn, to share, and even to declare a stanza of the hymns – when there is someone who is older than us in the meeting…but what I treasured the most in this message was that, by our functioning as the perfected saints, we actually “directly” build up the church! One of the original conditions of the church is that all the believers functioned in coordination in the church (Rom. 12:4-5) therefore we should all be the functioning members today! My heart echoed with one of the points in the outline:

The Lord desires all the saints to be perfected, however, the Lord’s call for the overcomers indicates that not all the saints will be perfected; just some of them will be perfected; the ones who are willing to be perfected will be the overcomers.

Immediately within me I responded to the Lord that I wanted to be an overcomer, and one of the ways is by being perfected! The way to be perfected is just to be willing! O Lord, be the willingness in me! I am willing to be perfected so that Your church can be built up! It was through this message the Lord showed to me that my being perfected was not something for my spiritual welfare and my spiritual future – my being perfected is for the building up of the church, and if I am not willing to be perfected, I may hinder the building up of the church.

It was indeed the Lord’s mercy that I could be one of the helpers to learn how to serve and be with the young people for the Winter School of Truth last year, and looking at them was just like looking at the me 6 years ago…Every bit of their improvement was a comfort and encouragement to me. As what one of the brothers shared during the coordination meeting, The young people are saved from the world by coming to the Truth School and likewise we also are saved from the world by being with these young people!

Indeed the Lord had given me the chance to be saved from the world and be perfected through such a priestly service, so that we may present every man full-grown in Christ (Col. 1:28). Hallelujah, we can all be perfected! May these young people continue to be preserved in the church life with one another as companions, for the building up of the Body of Christ!

Sharing from the 2013-2014 Winter School of Truth in London by brother N.K. (Reading) – he was a helper in the Truth School; he general topic was, “The Church”.
